Our team is involved end-to-end on the delivery of those models: from deeply understanding our product and our users, to identifying opportunities to enhance the product with data driven solutions, to writing the model’s code and working with engineering on having that model used by different systems across our platform, to experimentally testing and evaluating the performance and impact of our models.As a Data Scientist at goPuff, you’ll build and deploy machine learning models for all sorts of highly important use cases – including recommendation and personalization, predictive LTV, pricing optimization, predictive inventory planning, operations optimization, etc. You will also drive changes that increase efficiencies and improve the customer experience. You’ll have the opportunity to make a huge impact on the future success of goPuff.We’re looking for a doer, problem solver, and thought-leader.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with our business and engineering partners across the organization to deliver data science solutions for practical business problems. Work with the project leads and product managers to identify and scope new opportunities for data science projects
Deeply understand our users, our product, and our data to identify opportunities for machine learning, optimization and causal inference methods to deliver a better customer experience and make our business more efficient
Build data driven, robust and replicable data science models
Develop frameworks for evaluating and monitoring model performance
Use experimentation and causal inference to measure the impact of our models on user engagement and business metrics
Productionize and deploy models using cloud based tech stacks including Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, and Google Cloud.
Drive adoption of data products and data science solutions into the product planning process with team leadership
Identify gaps in existing data, create data product specs, and work with Engineering teams to implement enhanced data tracking
Partner with Analytics team members and other functions to share insights and best practices, ensuring consistency of data-driven decision-making throughout the org

Qualifications

PhD in operations research, economics, statistics, computer science, or another quantitative field
Hands-on experience applying descriptive statistics, machine learning, predictive modeling, and visualization techniques to solve challenging business problems
Coding in Python or similar programming language
Data querying skills in SQL
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms to business stakeholders
