Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly journal entries for various business transactions, with focus areas in investments and insurance (including but not limited to monthly investment activity, prepaid amortization and accruals)
• Prepare monthly and quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and flux analyses in accordance with close calendar timelines
• Review and analyze detailed transactions to ensure proper GL coding
• Assist in support of external audit, including preparation of audit requests and ongoing support
• Coordinate with cross-functional partners to facilitate streamlined processes
• Assist in documentation/implementation of internal controls and ensure SOX compliance in areas of responsibility
• Proactively identify process inefficiencies and offer suggestions for improvements

Experience:

• BS in Accounting degree preferred
• 2+ years experience in Accounting role, public accounting experience preferred
• Excellent organizational and communication skills a must
• Must be detail oriented, able to solve problems and multitask 
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills 
• Experience in Microsoft with a strong emphasis on Excel is a must; Oracle Cloud/ERP experience is preferred
• Insurance and Investments experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to operate independently and as part of a larger functional team
